Knox Design - All Inclusive Home Improvement

When I was 18 years old and on the verge of graduating High School I’ve announced to my parents my decision to pursue a career as a Painter, as an Artist. 

Everybody was quite shocked, since I followed a high school that was specialized in Math and Physics. 

Everybody told me that artists die young and malnourished and that I won’t find a job and that my future is unsafe. Maybe it would be better to try Accounting or Economics and to find a real job.

But since you cannot argue with a dream, I went to the Beaux Arts University in Bucharest and followed classes for 5 years, being valedictorian in 1998. After that followed a Master Degree in Arts. 

Just after graduating college I had the opportunity to work with a colleague of mine, Alex Petreanu, a sculptor. 

The Eclipse would come in the next year in Bucharest and some restaurants and stores wanted to renew their design according to that theme. So we renovated a disco and painted inside and outside an Eclipse – theme decor. 

People were impressed but jobs didn’t come so often as we would have liked. We had an idea that the best impact about our work would be if we would reach a larger and diverse audience. We went to schools and proposed to improve, paint and renovate. 

We had more than 5000 sqm of walls painted or drawn by us with abstract or educational subjects. 

From this, people noticed us and proposed to work for residential spaces. 

Since houses were very cheap people didn’t employed designers for interior design but we offered at the beginning only free advice or hand made sketches. 

After the first apartment got on the cover of a very popular interior design Magazine (Casa Lux) we become quite well known. 

In 2001 I’ve opened my own business specialized in Home Improvement projects and worked for over 1000 homes in Bucharest and surrounding areas, having teams of over 50 employed and coordinating complex projects. 

After 2004 we separated the 3D design from the construction business and opened Art Deco Zone. 

In 2008 we thought that would be better to offer also personalized furniture for our clients so we opened a custom furniture shop, Artifact Design.
